IMG mould

IMG Tool

To avoid stretching of the grain texture which is inevitable during normal vacuum moulding, the negative vacuum moulding process offers an alternative solution by using porous nickel tools with surface textures. These grant an optimum reproduction of the textures. Starting from a wrapping model which can bear a quilting seam or different grain textures, and following the appropriate model-making steps, a 3-6mm thick porous nickel shell is produced by Galvanoform using a patented process. This nickel shell is then finished to a production tool suitable for heating and vacuum moulding.

The number of micro-pores created in the “Technical Porous Nickel” (TPN),with a diameter of 0.15 - 0.2 mm, can be varied and adapted to the geometry of the component required. You can find a close look photo at the top of this page.

IMG tools are used for the processing of untextured TPO, PVC and other foils, for instance for the manufacture of door panels, glove box lids and instrument panels. Doubling or foam backing can very often be done in one working cycle and helps to reduce costs.

Aircraft mould

Perfect moulds for the aircraft industry

From CAD data to the complete tool

The aircraft industry has very special requirements. Above all, these include large parts with high precision surfaces. GALVANOFORM has successfully met these challenges in several major projects and proven: Our moulds lend wings to the aircraft industry.

Starting with our customer’s data for the parts, we manufacture tools, amongst others for the autoclaving process. GALVANOFORM employs the latest CAD programmes for the CAD construction of bath model and tool.

Construction is followed by the various production steps, ranging from the manufacture of a bath model (in general a cast tooling model) up to the final tool.

The nickel tools, with a thickness of 2.5 - 6 mm, are completed by a backing made according to the requirements of our customers. The nickel tools have a surface quality of Ra = 0.4 - 0.8.

After fitting the vacuum tubing and producing and positioning any required separate parts, the nickel tool is measured with measuring equipment. Tool tolerance is ± 0.2 - 0.3 mm for a tool surface of up to 18 m².

Prior to delivery of the layup tool an inspection report is made, as agreed beforehand with the customer.

Slush mould

Slush Tool

Galvanoform manufactures these forms for numerous well-known OEMs and Tier I / II.
For the slush process the electroforms are heated to production temperature by different processes, and after a short cycle are cooled down to demoulding temperature.

Production temperature for PVC processing is approx. 250 °C, demoulding temperature approx. 40 °C.

Depending on the production process, the slush tools have a thickness of 2.5 - 5 mm. The nickel tools are made of sulphamate nickel with a hardness of 20 - 25 HRc. Due to the very high heat resistance it can be soldered and welded.

About us

Company details

Precision moulds for your tools

This has been our guiding principle for more than 50 years. Today we offer you high precision tools - produced economically, efficiently and friendly to the environment - ranging from micro precision parts to large parts with a length of up to 9,000 mm.

There are two production methods for tools to choose from:
- Electroforming
- TPN (Technical Porous Nickel)

Both processes work on the same principle:

Models are plated which correspond to the required tools in terms of geometry, surface texture and dimensional accuracy.
