Special IR heaters

Heraeus has developed special emitters to meet all requirements where only very small or curved faces, edges or contours need heating. Common to all of these emitters is their focus in shape, size and spectrum to the desired process.

Golden 8 infrared heaters

A reliable sign of competence and quality in infrared heating: the Golden 8 quartz twin tube is the basis of all our twin tube infrared heaters and is the starting point for new solutions in heating processes. Heraeus Golden 8 infrared heaters (infrared lamps) are made with high-quality quartz tubes and gold reflectors for high efficiency.

The unique Heraeus Twin Tube design (the Golden 8) offers high radiation power and very good mechanical stability – allowing heaters of lengths up to 6.5 metres. Heraeus Golden 8 infrared heaters are available in short wave, medium wave, or fast response medium wave versions. That gives you the possibility to select the optimum wavelength for the material to be heated. Dimensions and filaments of the infrared heaters are matched to requirements. The gold reflector is another unique feature of the Golden 8 infrared heaters. It allows to emit heat directly to the product. A gold coating on the infrared heater reflects the infrared radiation. Consequently the infrared radiation impinging on the product is virtually doubled.

Heraeus infrared heaters are also available in special geometries, e.g. as omega-shaped or bent heaters, or as complete infrared systems.

Carbon infrared heaters

Our carbon heaters feature the unique Heraeus Twin Tube design (the 'Golden 8') for higher power density and excellent mechanical stability.Heraeus Carbon Infrared heaters have a unique filament design that combines the versatile medium-wave spectral emission with very short reaction times of just seconds. They are made with high-quality quartz tubes and gold reflectors for high efficiency. The unique Heraeus Twin Tube design (the "Golden 8") gives them higher power densities and good mechanical stability. Round tube designs are also available.

Heraeus Carbon infrared is also available as complete IR system.

QRC® Infrared Heater with Nano Reflector

The benefits of infrared heat can also be realised under extreme process conditions. Thanks to a newly developed quartz reflector, heating processes can be carried out significantly better in vacuum or at high surrounding temperatures.

QRC® (quartz reflective coating)
Unlike conventional reflectors, the new nano reflector is not made of gold or metal oxides but of opaque quartz glass. Quartz glass is extremely heat-resistant, as well as being resistant to attacks from acids, lyes and other aggressive substances.A gold coating on the infrared emitters reflects the radiation very effectively, to the extent that the effective radiation onto the product is almost doubled. Measurements have shown that the opaque quartz material has a reflectivity of around 60 to 70%. This is less than gold but similar to that of a highly polished aluminium reflector. However, an aluminium reflector progressively loses its reflectivity, as, over time, aluminium oxide builds up on its surface. In contrast, Quartz glass forms no such oxide coating over time.

The new reflector sits directly on the emitter and, unlike an external reflector, there is no additional fitting necessary to fix it in position.

Bent QRC heaters for edges and contours
We continue to develop the QRC infrared heater. New are QRC heaters which are bent or formed to fit exactly to edges or contours of a product. This helps to target heat e.g. for deburring or welding of three dimensional plastics products.

Infralight NIR heaters

Infralight stands for halogen infrared heaters with a spectrum in the near-infrared region, a maximum power output of 1 MW per square meter and very fast response times. They are made with high-quality quartz, usually in round  tubes. On request a gold reflectors can nearly double the effective radiation onto the product.

Heraeus Infralight NIR heaters are also available as complete IR systems.

IR modular systems

Heraeus infrared modules systems are ready-to-install heating systems optimised for your application. They use quality Heraeus heaters in specially designed housings with optional control units. Because heater and module are optimised for each other, the modular systems are the ideal solution for industrial heat.

Heraeus infrared heating modules are scalable and will always be optimised for the customer process. Optional Heraeus services include CAD data files, on-site measurement and start-up operation of the heating system.

Infrared modules from Heraeus Noblelight geben deliver thermal energy in a practical form. This simplifies and accelerates operating stages, optimises energy usage and results in an exceptional finished product.
