Research and Development
Our research and development focuses on technologies that have the greatest influence on plastic products: Compounding (material development), injection moulding and extrusion, joining, component properties as well as the economic and ecological valuation of plastic products and processes.
We have chosen our key activities so that the entire process chain is taken into consideration. Besides the measures relevant for quality assurance and the simulation of sub-processes, analyses and assessments of entire life cycles are granted.
We have state-of-the-art machines and laboratory equipment, fit for use, at our disposal on almost 10,000 sqm, in order to optimise preparation, manufacturing, and subsequent treatment processes as well as to test materials.
Getting ahead faster: automation on a scale close to production
The key activities are:
- Developing new high-performance basic materials made of
thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers, or composite materials such as nanocomposites, functional materials, wood-plastic composites, as well as developing and optimising processes to manufacture the respective products .
- Accelerated development of customised functional materials as well as process optimisation by using intelligent measuring methods, collection and interpretation of process data, and simulation Questions regarding colouration and colour/visual appearance of plastic products (process optimisation, developing new testing methods).
- Developing new applications and technologies: zero-defect production, production of composite components, reducing the number of process steps (e.g. by means of direct treatment).
- Analysing and increasing economic efficiency of processes and products as well as assessing sustainability.
Thinking ahead: progress through cooperation
We are open for industry commissions, bi- or multilateral cooperations and publicly funded research projects.
Our experienced employees can find solutions to many of your questions within the frame-work of the Industrial Joint Research (IGF) and other research funding programmes as well.
