The Reifenhäuser Group, based in Troisdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, is the worlds leading suppplier of plastics extrusion lines, machines and components. The group makes up the biggest in-house know-how network for extrusion technology in the world. Its six business units, to which nine subsidiaries belong, bundle highly specific know-how in design, process technology, automation, project planning, manufacturing, project management and logistics. Each business unit specializes in the development and production of different plastics extrusion technologies. Together, the group covers the largest portfolio of extrusion technology. The companies offer lines for the production of films, sheets, nonwovens, monofilaments, wood polymer composites, and the associated components.
All core components are “made by Reifenhäuser”. Development and production is found at the three German sites Troisdorf, Worms and Lampertheim. In addition, winders are produced in Sumirago, Italy, and screws and barrels in Wichita, USA. To handle sales and keep close to customers, the company has several sales and service branches of its own and more than sixty agencies around the globe.
The more than 100-year-old company founded in 1911 by Anton Reifenhäuser as a small forge, is still owned by the family. Today, it is run by the third generation in the persons of the brothers Bernd, Klaus and UIrich Reifenhäuser as managing partners. The company has grown steadily in recent years. According to a publication by Wirtschaftswoche (04/2013 issue), based on data on 1,500 companies from 2001 to 2010, the Reifenhäuser Group is among the fastest growing medium-size enterprises in Germany (56th place). In business year 2011-2012, the groups roughly 1,200 employees brought in revenues of more than 450 million euro.
The group owes its success not at least to its commitment to technological leadership and the fact that this goal has always constantly been pursued. For this purpose, the Reifenhäuser Group has invested at its Troisdorf site over the past years in research and development to create the largest privately operated research and development center for plastics extrusion in the world. Thus, the company offers its own developers and customers ideal conditions for the development of technologies for tomorrow.
