Our products

Product category: E/EVA copolymers

LDPE (Low density polyethylene)

Low density polyethylene is a solid thermoplastic produced from ethylene, produced by International Polymers Company (IPC), an affiliate of Sipchem from 2014, with production capacity of 200,000 metric tons per annum (mtpa).

Product Details

LDPE is a solid thermoplastic produced from ethylene. Key important properties include chemical resistance, moisture resistance and general barrier properties. LDPE is readily processed by all thermoplastic methods. LDPE is widely used in the manufacture of various containers, dispensing bottles, tubing, plastic bags, plastic film (food packaging, industrial liners), coated containers (e.g. juice cartons) and a wide range of moulded parts. Modified LDPE (cross-linked) is also widely used in the production of electric cables (insulation; see GACI).

Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) is a solid copolymer produced from ethylene and vinyl acetate by International Polymers Company (IPC), an affiliate of Sipchem from 2014, with production capacity of 200,000 metric tons per annum (mtpa).

Product Details

EVA is a solid copolymer made from ethylene and vinyl acetate (10-40% VA). EVA is an elastomeric-type material, soft and flexible with good clarity, gloss, low-temperature toughness and stress-crack resistance. EVA resins are used in the manufacture of a wide range of consumer and industrial goods. In packaging applications, EVA is used to produce a range of different films including those for direct food-contact and greenhouse applications. EVA can also be readily moulded or extruded into soft plastic goods, including hoses and tubing, is used in hot-melt adhesives, wire and cable insulation and as a solar cell encapsulant. EVA is also widely used as padding in sports equipment and in a broad range of leisure footwear as a shock absorber(e.g. sports shoes)

Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT)

PBT is a solid thermoplastic produced from 1,4 butanediol and purified terephthalic acid by Sipchem Chemicals Company (SCC), an affiliate of Sipchem from 2014, with production capacity of 63,000 metric tons per annum (mtpa).

Product Details

PBT is a mechanically strong engineering polymer which is heat resistant up to 150 deg C. PBT is used as an insulator in the electrical and electronics industries, in the automotive industry (electrical system, mirror housings, handles, fuel system) and in a range of household goods (e.g. shower heads, irons). PBT can also be processed into fibres and is incorporated into clothing such as sportswear.

The range of products include methanol, butanediol, malaeic anhydride, tetrahydrofuran, acetic acid, and acetic anhydride, as well as carbon monoxide, vinyl acetate monomer, Ethyl Acetate / Butyl Acetate, Low Density Polyethylene, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate and Polybutylene Terephthalate. In addition, Sipchem produces Semi-conductive Polymer and Cross Linkable Polyethylene (XLPE used as insulating material for power cables.

Sipchem’s brand promises to deliver excellence, everywhere. Since the chemicals that Sipchem produces occur in most of the industrial building blocks of modern life Sipchem’s products are, literally, here, there and everywhere.

Sipchem’s commitment to growing the diversity of the Saudi Arabian petrochemical industry is evidenced by the fact that 15 of Sipchem’s 17 products are manufactured by no other producer in the Middle East. Sipchem has built a Product and Application Development Center to support the development of polymer products and their applications. It will also ensure that Sipchem remains at the forefront of chemicals and polymer product evolution as it positions itself to supply the chemical building blocks of tomorrow’s global consumer industries.

Sipchem products are partially marketed by one of its affiliates, Sipchem Marketing Company (SMC). SMC acquired Aectra SA, located in Geneva, that mainly functions in the marketing activities, logistic services and commercial expertise in the European markets.
