EtaControl® machine optimization

EtaControl® reduces the energy hunger of injection moulding machines.

The power consumption of injection moulding machines is the lion's share of the electricity bill and an important portion of the total costs incurred in plastics processing companies. This explains the steady increase in energy optimization measures by the machine manufacturers, which can be recorded for years. When taking these optimization measures, however, the buyer's requirements for a cost-efficient machine, which is to produce an article range from high-speed machines for yoghurt cups or caps to a demanding technical mould, conflict with the manufacturer's efforts who cannot give half away an energy-optimized all-rounder. Depending on the article range produced, the injection moulding machines manufactured up to five years ago have a specifically high energy consumption, just because of the requirement for universal qualities and a relatively limited optimization.

The new EtaControl® technology from ONI, a further development of the ONI machine optimization systems developed by ONI approx. 30 years ago for hydraulic injection moulding machines, is the ideal solution approach for effectively addressing the problems of energy costs within a short term.
The core of this technology is a controlled oil flow management which automatically adjusts to the energy requirements of the machine in the cyclic processes and the respective part as required.
In a large-scale field application in the premises of ONI customers, using most different part and machine spectra, reductions in power consumption of up to 53 % were achieved in injection moulding machines.
On an average, machines equipped with this technology achieved an electricity saving rate of 36 % - at the same cycle time and product quality.
A special feature of the EtaControl® technology is the fact that the power range of the injection moulding machine can be fully used at any time!

ONI winter relief

ONI winter relief sends chillers to their hibernation.

The operation of chillers is very energy-intensive and increases the costs of energy. Depending on the plant situation, up to 80 % of these electricity costs can be saved by the use of a glycol-free ONI winter relief system. ONI winter relief uses the ambient air as a cost-free cooling energy supplier in the transitional and winter months. As soon as the ambient temperature is somewhat below the cooling water return temperature, relief of the chiller is started to save electricity. If the ambient temperature reaches a value which is a few Celsius degrees below the cooling water lead temperature, the chiller will be completely deactivated and the winter relief system provides the cold water supply completely. In addition, the glycol-free operation of ONI winter relief has great advantages as compared with operation on glycol. Thus, a system separation can be dispensed with, the plant operator will have no problems with the approval authorities and the efficiency of winter relief is considerably higher.

Heat recovery

Cost-free waste heat replaces natural gas and fuel oil! Heat recovery allows an optimal use of waste heat and a considerable reduction in the heating costs in plastics processing companies.

Saving energy in in a twin pack!

Many plants processing plastics could reduce their heating energy bill to approximately zero by the use of heat recovery. This system technology from ONI makes sure that waste heat from production can be used for heating purposes. This technology is based on special heat exchangers developed by ONI, coping with a heating water temperature of only 35 °C. Today, ONI can provide heat recovery device series which - despite their low heating water level - can provide heating power for halls or office rooms at a uniform temperature distribution. Waste heat sources for this type of heat recovery are sufficiently available in particular in companies processing plastics or metal. For example, from the oil cooling on hydraulic units which generally can cope with a lead temperature of 30 °C at a return temperature of 35 °C. In addition, this type of heat recovery has a very positive effect. Costs for cooling via recooling plants can be saved. Thus, waste heat, the recooling of which costs money, turns to heating energy which saves heating costs through ONI heat recovery!

Controlled hall ventilation

Little energy for a good climate! Energy-efficient ventilation systems make sure that the energy costs bill is considerably lower.

"The requirements for the room air conditions increase with the quality requirements for the manufactured products!" This short formula can be used to derive the structure of the ventilation systems from ventilation to the clean-room technology. Depending on the industry and production process, a different and specific requirement profile is therefore defined for each application.
However, the energy consumption for the operation of ventilation systems is considerable in industrial plants. If, in addition, larger fresh air portions are required for controlled supply air, the energy costs will soar.
An energy-efficient and system-based ventilation technology is an efficient means against high energy costs in the ventilation area. We can plan, deliver and construct made-to-measure clean-room systems for our customers, featuring an especially energy-efficient operation

The ventilation systems planned and implemented by our experts make sure that the clean-room area receives the specified air quality and the admissible particle concentration is not exceeded in the relevant production area. Depending on the requirements, this also includes the maintenance of temperatures and humidity with regard to hygienic aspects.

Our service range comprises the implementation of complete clean-room units from the FFU micro-cell solution, which is installed to an individual injection moulding machine, to a large-volume clean-room for production, further processing or first packaging.

This also includes systems for the supply of cooling/heating energy, compressed air as well as open-loop and closed-loop control systems which are responsible for the operating and monitoring management to the history administration in batch production.

Among others, planning, design and tests are performed according to the VDI regulation 2083 or the GMP regulations in the EU or according to other national or customer-specific regulations.

The project development is simple and straightforward for you. You provide the requirement profile in a project discussion for us. Then, we prepare a clean-room system solution tailored to your needs. During the concept design the operational safety of the systems has absolute priority, and lower construction and operating costs follow this requirement immediately in our system solutions.

For example, energy-saving high-pressure systems complying with VDI 6022 with regard to hygienic safety are used in the area of air humidification, for example.

Since the operating costs for a clean-room unit are relatively high because of the exacting requirements for ventilation, we always implement these systems according to the prioritization motto “operating cost optimization directly follows process safety”!

We can deliver all-inclusive systems for the clean-room classes according to ISO 7 to 8 (Class 10000 and 100000) in the area of clean-room technology.
