The ARBURG product range encompasses hydraulic, hybrid, electrical and vertical ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines in a modular design. Regardless of the sector involved, the processes used, or the plastic parts produced, ALLROUNDERs are synonymous with quality, reliability, production efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Hydraulic ALLROUNDER machines are extremely versatile and can be used in conjunction with all the familiar injection moulding techniques. The ALLROUNDER H (Hidrive) hybrid injection moulding machines for top performance in thermoplastic processing combine the speed and precision of electric technology with hydraulic power and dynamics. The fully electric GOLDEN ELECTRIC series provides cost-effective entry into the world of electric machines, while the high-precision ALLDRIVE ALLROUNDER machines enables the production of high-end moulded parts. Inserts can be overmoulded ergonomically with the vertical ALLROUNDERs V, which can be selected from the widest machine range available in the industry. ARBURG at the K 2016

A total of 27 Arburg machines will be on show at the K 2016, to be held in Düsseldorf from 19 to 26 October, presenting innovative applications, processes and turnkey solutions. On its exhibition stand, "13A13", ARBURG will present twelve exhibits that demonstrate the current state of the art, including several world premieres.

Production-efficient machine technology, applications and processes
"Anyone who is familiar with ARBURG will know that you can always rely on us to produce a surprise and that we like to keep an ace up our sleeve. Things are no different in this important K year," says Michael Hehl, Managing Partner and Spokesperson for the ARBURG Management Team with a wink, adding: "The electric ALLROUNDER GOLDEN ELECTRIC entry level machine series made its début in March. This was the first product innovation for this year, but by no means the last. Think Together" at ARBURG

Around 100 participants attended the twelfth "Think Together" specialist conference, organised by K.D. Feddersen and hosted by ARBURG in Lossburg on 16 June 2016. The slogan was: "People. Think. Plastic." with the focus on lightweight construction.

Expert presentations on lightweight construction
"We are playing our part in the exchange of experiences with presentations and interesting techniques that centre on lightweight construction," said Gerhard Böhm, Managing Director Sales, as he welcomed the around 100 participants to the lightweight construction event on behalf of ARBURG. The event was started by Manuel Wöhrle, Senior Sales Manager Lightweight at ARBURG. During his presentation on the latest trends in lightweight construction, he presented fibre direct compounding (FDC) and Profoam physical foaming technology. Practical applications of both innovative injection moulding processes were demonstrated in the ARBURG Customer Center in the afternoon. Other contributions came from Akro-Plastic, Celanese, Lyondellbasell, Proplas and Jell.

Practical "live" demonstration of applications
The participants broke up into small groups in the afternoon for tours of the factory and also had the opportunity to see a "live" demonstration of lightweight construction on an ALLROUNDER injection moulding machine. "We had some really lively exchanges," said Manuel Wöhrle, summarising the practical part and the benefits of the specialist event: "The lightweight construction conference afforded material and machine manufacturers an excellent opportunity for dialogue and enabled them to take valuable ideas and inspirations home with them."

New ARBURG Innovation Centre at KIT in Karlsruhe

The inauguration ceremony for the new ARBURG Innovation Centre (AIC) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, was held in April 2016. In their addresses, the head of the Institute, Prof. Jürgen Fleischer and ARBURG Managing Director Technology & Engineering, Heinz Gaub underscored the importance of the new facility for the cooperation between research and business.

The new ARBURG Innovation Centre is certainly an impressive sight: the AIC features a high-tech, modern design and the approximately 60 square metres of floorspace accommodates two freeformers for additive manufacturing and one ALLROUNDER injection moulding machine, a free-standing six-axis robotic system and several workstations and information panels for staff at the joint facility.

As the Institute for Production Science at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the wbk is an ideal research and cooperative partner for ARBURG. Representing the wbk, Prof. Jürgen Fleischer referred to the long-established collaboration between the KIT and ARBURG, which started at the beginning of the new millennium. The Innovation Centre bridges the gap between the scientific acquisition of knowledge and the establishment of market viability. With a staff of around 9,300 and 25,000 students, KIT is one of the largest research and teaching institutions for science and engineering in Europe.

New assembly hall for large machines and turnkey solutions

In March 2016, ARBURG opened its new assembly hall,which adds 18,600 square metres to the total floorspace available at the ARBURG headquarters in Lossburg, bringing it to around 165,000 square metres. Of the 78 machine test stands available there, 38 are intended for turnkey systems, which will be configured and commissioned along with their peripheral equipment.

Michael Hehl, Managing Partner and spokesperson for the ARBURG Management Team, emphasised in his address that the eight-figure investment in the new building, underscoring the company's commitment to its local region and to environmental protection, as well as its strong customer focus. He explained that this was due to the continuously rising demand for machines with complex equipment, large ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines with clamping forces up to 5,000 kN and customised turnkey solutions. 
 
A number of high-profile speakers congratulated the company on its impressive investment record. William R. Carteaux, President of SPI (Society of the Plastics Industry), expressed his congratulations in a video-link message and emphasised how much he admired ARBURG's construction and technological efforts. Thorsten Kühmann, Managing Director of the VDMA Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association explained the success factors: "German machine manufacturers such as ARBURG are successful because their approach is sustainable in every respect. The focus remains on the family-run company and an understanding of the needs of customers. He illustrated his point using the examples of the high-quality injection moulding machines, the additive manufacturing system and the concept for the implementation of "Industry 4.0".
