CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA (June 15, 3:20 p.m. ET) -- It’s a sound -- and an instrument -- that most people had never heard before. And one that many seem to hope they never hear again.

The vuvuzela has become a symbol of this year’s World Cup competition in South Africa, bringing global attention to the plastic horn that has been a part of soccer competitions in the country for more than 10 years.
