Wittmann expands Connecticut site, plans MacroPower display

Wittmann Group is investing $2.4 million in a 20,000-sq-ft expansion to its U.S. subsidiary, giving the supplier of injection molding machines, auxiliaries, and robotics its first North American venue capable of displaying its large MacroPower molding machine series, as well as a larger space for commissioning complete molding cells.

"Although we have an ever-growing MacroPower install base in North America, we have not had room to display the MacroPower line," Sonny Morneault, Wittmann Battenfeld's national sales manager, told PlasticsToday.

The MacroPower series ranges up to 1500 tons of clamping force, and Wittmann stated in a release, that increasingly it is being commissioned for more turnkey lines, including machine, automation, and peripherals. The addition has ceilings over 30 ft high, which Wittmann said will permit unimpeded assembly and testing of the large MacroPower models.
