Updated: Netstal realigns Näfels machine manufacturing operations

Following a year-long review, KraussMaffei Group has decided to reconfigure the manufacturing operations of the Näfels, Switzerland headquarters of the Netstal injection molding machinery brand, with machining and module preassembly to be gradually transferred to sister plants within the KraussMaffei Group in Germany and Slovakia.

Rotary parts manufacturing has already been discontinued at the site, which manufactured its first injection molding machine in 1945. Located in the Canton of Glarus, the 72,000-sq-m site had housed production and assembly facilities, as well as development, design, marketing, administration, customer service, training, and application technology facilities.

Going forward, the company said it envisions Näfels becoming a center of excellence for fast-cycling premium products, saying the move was a "structural realignment to strengthen international competitiveness."...
