UKRAINE: Lukoil resumes petrochemical production in Kalush stopped in 2012 by market conditions

Last September, Lukoil halted production of core products-ethylene, polyethylene (PE), vinyl chloride, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), caustic soda and chlorine.

In April 2013, Lukoil and Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers signed a Memorandum of Coordination of Actions "to bring the plant to a cost-effective production level," the company noted.

Lukoil currently has the capacity to produce 300,000 t/y of PVC, 250,000 t/y of ethylene, 200,000 t/y of caustic soda, about 180,000 t/y of chlorine and 100,000 t/y of PE.
