Josef Ertl, chairman of the German Plastics Industry Federation (WVK), believes one of the only things that is constant is change.
In Europe, the economic situation is not rosy, particularly in the monetary union where many countries are confronted with the Euro crisis while struggling with declining output rates in the automotive industry, a "slackening" construction business and rising energy and raw material prices.
"In the European Union, we are currently discussing how to shape its future," he said at the K 2013 preview (July 1-3; Düsseldorf, Germany). "This is by no means unimportant for the plastics industry, especially when the topics debated include double regulation, dependability and how much leeway the industry will still have to pursue innovation."..
