One of Europe's largest processors of bioriented polypropylene film, Treofan Group, is in talks to sell its Treofan Benelux SA business in Liège, Belgium, allowing the parent company to focus on a smaller range of specialty BOPP films.
Officials at Treofan (Raunheim, Germany) say the company already is in advanced talks with potential purchasers of the Belgian site, where about 100 are employed. "Our strategy is to focus on a smaller range of specialty BOPP films, especially in the areas of tobacco, electronics and IML labels," explained Carlo Ranucci, CEO of the Treofan Group, in a statement. "With Treofan Benelux SA mainly producing other types of films, the sale is a logical step." Treofan early this year sold its site in Lamezia, Italy, where cast PP film was extruded. In Oct. 2009 the management of Treofan South Africa acquired that business.
