Training and retaining employees: two keys to a successful business

Plastics processors and mold manufacturers continue to complain about the lack of skilled employees. That not only worries these companies, but it's a concern to their customers as well. The automotive industry, for example, has expressed in a number of surveys lately that the lack of engineering and other skilled personnel is a major challenge to meeting the increasing production requirements.

The November results from the Original Equipment Suppliers Association's survey, revealed that there are three areas in which the automotive suppliers are having a difficult time filling positions: engineering, technicians and hourly skilled trades. The OESA survey noted that companies are having the greatest difficulty in hiring qualified, available candidates and that requisitions for these employees are open the longest. ...
