Total and Nissei ASB to enter new markets for polyolefins using ISBM technology

Blowmolding machine maker Nissei ASB (Komoro, Japan) is utilizing Total Refining & Chemicals’ (Brussels, Belgium) expertise in polymer raw materials to access new markets in the packaging industry by processing polypropylene (PP) into a PET-designed one-stage injection stretch blowmolding (ISBM) machine. Bottles for sports drinks, pharmaceuticals, food and baby nourishment are the targeted markets for this combination of ISBM technology and polyolefins.

“ISBM technology is amazing,” explains Gabriela Quevedo Silvetti, Market Development Engineer for Rigid Packaging Applications at Total. “It enables not only multiple product size and shape manufacturing but also the smooth switch from one material to another, in this case from PET to PP, giving a lot of flexibility and opportunities for diverse applications.
