Tennessee goes 3-for-3 on automotive investment


Japan's Sekisui Plastics (Osaka) became the third company in the space of two days to announce a major investment in automotive plastic components in the state of Tennessee when it announced plans to invest $3 million in a second manufacturing facility for foam plastics, primarily used in automotive safety components, in Mount Pleasant on August 31. The previous day, ABC Group Fuel Systems (Toronto, ON) and NYX, Inc. (Livoni, MI) also announced major investments for molding plastic auto parts in the state.

Fuel tanks and more in spate of Tennessee auto plastics investments. Tier I molder ABC plans to invest $5 million at its Gallatin Plant to expand production of plastic fuel tank systems and urea systems for automotive and non-automotive OEMs. The company will create 114 new jobs in the process.

ABC Group Fuel System is a subsidiary of ABC Group of Companies, which operates three facilities in Gallatin - ABC Technologies, ABC Group Fuel Systems and Salga Plastics. The company currently manufactures some 1.1 million multi-layer plastic fuel tank assemblies each year.
