Shell recently announced that a Technip Samsung Consortium (TSC) will do the detailed design and construction of Shell's floating liquified natural gas facility Prelude FLNG.
TSC was chosen to provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation for the FLNG facility that Shell will deploy at the Prelude gas field off the northwest coast of Australia. The Prelude FLNG will be moored some 200 kilometers off the Australian coast. With a total length of roughly 500 metres it will be the largest ship ever build. The Prelude FLNG will produce gas from offshore fields and liquefy it onboard by cooling.
Detailed design will be done by TSC at Technip’s offices in Paris, France, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Prelude FLNG will be build at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, Korea, where the Notice to Proceed signing ceremony took place....
