Shanghai, China—Already among the world's top three styrenic block copolymer suppliers, Taiwan's TSRC Corp. (Taipei) is further augmenting its supply position. Speaking at a pre-Chinaplas press event, Chris Mudd, President and General Manager of group company Dexco Polymers (Houston, TX) outlined the company's expansion plans for the coming years.
First up, a 25,000-tonnes/yr styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) block copolymer plant recently went on line in Nantong, China. Product is marketed under the Vector SIS brand. Major SIS markets include personal hygiene (including elastic films) and adhesives. Global demand is pegged at as much as 400,000 tonnes annually, with growth rates tracking at double that of GDP.
