THAILAND: Jacobs gets contract from NatureWorks for Ingeo biopolymer plant

Under the contract, Jacobs is providing front-end engineering design work, including major equipment design for the new 140,000-t/y PLA facility, which will make bio-polymers from abundant renewable plant materials.

"This contract is the next stage of what we anticipate will be a three-year project," noted Steve Bray, Nature-Work's director of manufacturing and engineering.

NatureWorks is jointly owned by PTTGC and Cargill and has a 150,000-t/y PLA unit in Flagship Blair, Neb., which was expanded earlier this year from a capacity of 140,000 t/y.
