Sibur significantly increases SBS capacity

The measure will boost Sibur's SBS capacity from 35,000 to 85,000 t/y. The plant will produce standard linear and radial grades, as well as several oil extended, high styrene and special grades. Start is planned for the first half 2013.As a vertically integrated company Sibur operates across the entire petrochemical process chain from gas processing to the production of monomers, plastics and synthetic rubbers, as well as the processing of plastics. In total the company offers more than 2,000 different types of products. In 2011, Sibur accounted for more than 50 % of all APG processed in Russia and 34 % of Russia's production of synthetic rubbers, 38 % of LDPE, 27 % of polypropylene, 65 % of mono-ethylene glycol, 55 % of butadiene, and a considerable share of other petrochemical products. Sibur is Russia's only SBS producer. Its total elastomer capacity is said to be approximately 500,000  t. Besides SBS the portfolio contains SBR, BR, IR, and NBR.Recently the company signed an agreement with Japanese distributor Marubeni for the distribution of SBS in Europe.
