Rubber Research Institute's Plant Science Department Head Dr. Priyani Seneviratne stated that planters who could provide good quality rubber seeds may inform the RRI at Agalawatta. Further she stated that there is an urgent necessity for 30,000 to 40,000 rubber seeds to meet the demand.
Due to the present wet weather condition, difficulties are experienced in collecting rubber seeds from Kegalle and Kurunegala which are high rubber producing areas. In addition, fresh rubber plantations have commenced in the Northern and the Eastern Provinces.
Dr. Seneviratne said that further details can be obtained from the RRI, Dartonfield, Agalawatta, or 0342247261, 0342247383.
