SAUDI ARABIA: 512 exhibitors set for plastics, petchem show

The show, which is the 11th international plastics and petrochem trade fair and Saudi Print & Pack 2014 - the 11th international printing and packaging technologies exhibition - will showcase the latest technologies, machinery, equipment and supplies in the petrochemical, plastics, printing and packaging industries to the regional market. Both exhibitions will share a 20,000 square meter area.

The press briefing held under the chairmanship of Fahad Al-Athel, DGM, Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC), was attended by diplomats from embassies such as Austria, Italy and Germany, and trade missions such as KOTRA and Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office and representatives of international pavilions.

The conference highlighted the event's vital role in supporting the growth and development plans for the Kingdom's industrial sector. Both exhibitions will be held concurrently at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Saudi Polymers has been confirmed as the platinum sponsor of the upcoming event, and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Tasnee are the diamond sponsors while Saudi Printing and Packaging Company is the silver sponsor. The leading companies are set to boost the importance and effectiveness of the show in highlighting major industry news, trends, products and projections.

Al-Athel said: "We extend our warm welcome to all the attendees and the speakers who will grace our parallel events. We have continued to organize Saudi Plast and Petrochem 2014 and Saudi Print & Pack 2014 with great success for more than a decade now. The shows have become catalysts for growth and development within the Kingdom's vital industrial sector.

" The participation of major Saudi Arabian companies along with several international pavilions will enrich the event with the latest industry information and analysis, trends and updates, and products and solutions. We are looking forward to a successful 11th edition and continue to tread on the path of success that will enable us to further expand the event,” he added.

Answering question, Al-Athel, said the plastic industry was a multibillion-riyal market in the Kingdom. "During the past three years, there has been a steady growth of eight percent in the Kingdom,” he added.

Kamil Al-Jawhari, project manager of Saudi Plastics and Petrochem and Saudi Print & Pack at REC, said: "We are keen to maintain our mutual business relationship with all our partners, and constantly develop and grow our leading exhibition to present a premier business gateway to all industry professionals to enter and grow within the lucrative Saudi market.”

Investments into the Kingdom's petrochemical sector have reached SR3.6 trillion, making Saudi Arabia a primary source of material for related products such as packaging and plastics. It is further expected to become the world's third largest exporter of petrochemical products with its market share poised to reach 10 % by 2015.

Saudi plastics and petrochemical exports grew from less than USD 500 million in 1985 to USD 22 billion in 2011.
