Portuguese moldmaking group Vangest scores Toyota hybrid order


Vangest, a group of 12 companies in Portugal focused on product development, moldmaking, rapid prototypes and injection molding, has won a large order from automotive OEM Toyota to supply more than 40 molds for a new Toyota hybrid car, the model 130A.

In answer to questions from PlasticsToday, Vangest corporate communications contact Erica Rodrigues replied that the total value of the project is in excess of €3 million ($4.34 million). Vangest is assisting with mold design and handling the manufacturing of these but will not be doing the molding of parts, she said. The project is the latest in a strong uptick in automotive ones atthe company, she added, as the industry pulls out of the recession of 2008/'09. Vangest serves industries other than automotive but, regarding automotive, she said the company is seeing its strongest business from processors and OEMs in Europe....
