Plastics processor launches TE linerless plug closure for ESL and aseptic beverage market

Plastic closure processor Portola Packaging has launched its first tamper-evident (TE) linerless plug closure for extended shelf life (ESL) and aseptic beverage packages.

Portola's new Steri-Shield plug closures can be made in a variety of sizes ranging from 38 to 43mm, with or without a tamper-evident band. The line is used to seal juices, isotonics, dairy, energy drinks, milk, vitamin waters, drinkable yogurt, teas and others.

"Beverage companies are looking for easy to open and lightweight closures for high performance products," Roy Robinson, vice president of business development at Portola Packaging, told PlasticsToday.
