Nuova Pansac: Uproar over CEO paying soccer team, not workers

Even soccer-manic Italians have a hard time grasping how Fabrizio Lori, the CEO of film manufacturer Nuova Pansac (Mantova / Italy; www.nuovapansac.com), can pay the salaries of his soccer players, when some of his workers have not been paid since November 2009, Italian papers reveal. While employees have opted to strike in protest, local politicians have called for an external administrator, arguing that the company's entire management shows a "lack of initiative, incredibility, and an incapacity to develop strategies."

On 15 January 2010, Nuova Pansac was scheduled to present a restructuring plan at the finance ministry in Rome, with the goal of resuming production as soon as possible.
