New material applications headline Detroit auto show

New materials technology is a headliner at this year's North American International Auto Show, which opened this morning for press previews in Detroit's historic Cobo Center.

The redesigned Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was named the 2014 North American car of the year at the start of the show.

The new Corvette features the first rapid out-of-autoclave carbon composite application developed by Plasan Carbon Composites (Wixom, MI) with Toray Industries (America), Weber Manufacturing (Midland, Ontario), and Globe Machine (Tacoma, WA).
