New initiative aims to support U.S. plastics industry

Taking a stand for the U.S. plastics industry has usually been the purview of industry trade associations. Now, a U.S. mold manufacturer and structural brand development company, R&D/Leverage, has stepped up and launched Support Plastics USA with a new website: Robert Schiavone, global marketing director for R&D/Leverage, made the preliminary announcement at the recent Amerimold Expo.

Schiavone said that the new web site gives moldmakers, design houses and processors a unified voice, as well as a power “home” for an industry’s worth of information and resources, as well as success stories. “In a matter of weeks, 13 entities have joined Support Plastics USA,” he said.

“We are tearing down the walls separating customers and competitors, and creating a joint effort of sharing the news of what we do in the U.S. when it comes to plastics design, engineering, and manufacturing,” Schiavone said. “Simultaneously, we are working to foster pride in American workmanship and manufacturing prowess in order to attract young adults eager to start their careers.”
