New Brazilian PE grades for fuel tanks


Closely monitoring the latest trends and needs of its clients, Braskem (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has developed two new automotive grade of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The new grades that were recently shipped to clients, HS4506 and HS4506A, are being applied in fuel storage systems.

Today, 67% of vehicle tanks in Brazil are made from polyethylene," said Claudia Arruda, commercial director at Braskem. This not only lowers weight, but improves safety and allows for greater design freedom compared with metal tanks....
