Plastics compounder PolyOne remains on the acquisition trail, hiring a new exec to help develop and lead enhanced global acquisition activity at the company. At films processor Soliant, a new marketing manager has been named to help develop new markets for Soliant-brand paint film. Meanwhile, LIST Worldwide has named a new CEO.
At PolyOne, Joel Rathbun has been hired to serve as vice president, mergers and acquisitions, reporting to Robert Patterson, executive vice president and chief financial officer. According to Patterson, "In this newly created role, Joel will be responsible for developing and leading our global acquisition activities. With over $400 million in cash, we are looking to accelerate our progress in acquiring assets that bring PolyOne new technology, or expand our presence in attractive end markets such as healthcare or emerging markets such as Brazil, Asia and the Middle East." The company already has made a handful of small-but-strategic acquisitions in the past 18 months. Early this year PolyOne acquired Brazilian compounder Uniplen, and last October made its first acquisition in Brazil, buying the specialty color business, Polimaster.
