Momentive launches Niax D-25 tin catalyst, free of 2-EHA

MPM says Niax D-25 typically yields high catalytic efficiency during the polyurethane reaction at similar use levels to other materials such as stannous octoate. The new product is a clear, colourless to light yellow coloured liquid of medium viscosity and offers good solubility in polyether polyols and most organic solvents. It is a Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) registered product. According to the company, Niax D-25 is just another example of innovation resulting from continuous development within Momentive to create a product that offers an attractive proposition of cost and performance. In another development, Momentive have moved its global Urethane Additives headquarters to Pudong Shanghai, China, signalling that investment is Asia remains of strategic importance, in its role as a global supplier of catalysts and modifiers to the polyurethane industry. The move now places sales and marketing responsibility alongside the global R&D Director, and development laboratory to create a strong global team. "We are now stronger globally but can also execute locally, anywhere in the world. Locating our HQ to China does not mean that we have abandoned the rest of the world, but that we are well places to take opportunities where they arise in emerging markets,” explained Tony Lanchak, Global Director of UA. "The merger with Hexion allows MPM to offer a much greater diversity of chemistry to our customers, in particular the coatings and automotive applications will benefit from the broader chemical base.”
