Micropulse launches major Indiana expansion

Micropulse, a medical device manufacturer for the orthopedic and cardiovascular industries, plans to expand its operations in Columbia City, IN creating up to 100 new jobs within three years.

Founded in 1988 as a tool and die maker in Brian Emerick's garage, the company currently employs 240 and has grown rapidly since it began to focus on the medical market in 2003. Plastics processing assets include thermoforming machines to produce sterilization cases and trays for implants, orthopedic instruments and other devices made with machining equipment.

The company will invest $14.3 million in its current 100,000 square-foot facility in two phases through 2017. The first phase focuses on new equipment and will be completed in 2014. Phase two, which includes a 60,000 square foot facility expansion and some renovation, will begin the following year....
