Gerresheimer, a $1.4 billion/yr processor of glass and plastic packaging and other devices for the global pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, announced it will double the plastics processing area at its facility in Horsovsky Tyn, Czech Republic, a site where the company molds inhalers, insulin pens, lancing devices and various diagnostic systems. The expansion also will boost the site's workforce.
Total capital investment at the Czech plant will be about €12 million. The company's roots are in glass but plastics processing is where much of its growth is being realized. Gerresheimer's start in the plastics processing space began with its acquisition in 2007 of Regensburg, Germany-based injection molder Wilden.
