Medical Musings: Ambulances may become mobile hospitals


Efforts to boost capabilities of emergency medical responders are creating significant opportunities for medical devices made from plastics. To a slight extent, ambulances are becoming modest versions of mobile hospitals.

According to the American Heart Association, "survival is directly linked to the amount of time between the onset of sudden cardiac arrest and defibrillation. If no bystander CPR is provided, a victim's chances of survival are reduced by 7% to 10% with every minute of delay until defibrillation." Some 88% of cardiac arrests occur at home....
