Liquid rubber as reactive plasticiser for tyre compounds
The first product that has been developed by the partners is Liquid Farnesene Rubber (LFR). As Kuraray's liquid rubber based on petrochemical resources, LFR can be used as plasticiser in applications such as tyre compounds. It allows for a better processability and a reduced rolling resistance of the tyre. LFR is a co-crosslinkable reactive plasticiser and therefore does not cause any problems associated with migration. LFR compounds are currently being tested by several tyre producers. Kuraray will report about the use of liquid rubber in tyre compounds and other applications as well as about latest developments of the cooperation with Amyris at several trade shows around the globe, among them Tire Technology Expo 2015 (Cologne, Germany, 10?-?12 February), Chinaplas (Guangzhou, China, 20?-?23 May) and the International Rubber Conference 2015 (Nuremberg, Germany, 29 June?-?2 July).
