Legal battle in China ends with battenfeld-cincinnati on top


After 7 years of litigation, the manufacturer of pipe, profile and sheet extrusion machinery has won its intellectual property rights lawsuit against Chinese manufacturer Donghua Machinery. "This case shows that it is worth fighting for one's rights, especially concerning intellectual property that has been developed for years with high effort," stated Jürgen Arnold, CEO of the battenfeld-cincinnati group of companies.

The case actually was settled late last year, but battenfeld-cincinnati revealed its victory only recently. The case dates to 2003 when battenfeld-cincinnati (Foshan), then known as Battenfeld Chen Extrusion Systems, filed a suit before a Chinese court against one of its competitors, Donghua Machinery Ltd. (Dongguan, China), charging it with product piracy concerning the company's complete PO 450 pipe extrusion line.
