Lanxess expands capacities for hightech plastics in China

The new line will increase capacities by nearly 50 % and is scheduled to go on stream mid-2011. After the expansion, the plant will have a capacity of about 60 kt/y. The facility, which has been in operation since January 2006, compounds Durethan (PA 6 and 66) and Pocan (PBT and its blends) for the entire Asia-Pacific region. The company is also considering further investments in Wuxi in the near future.

China is a key market for Lanxess and accounted with about 1,000 employees for sales of EUR 584 million in 2009. In a year when the China Petrochemical Industry Association (CPCIA) reported an average Chinese industry growth slightly less than 10 %, the company's sales increased by 15 % year-on-year.
