Kuraray: Expanded German PVB capacity on stream

Kuraray (Europe: Frankfurt / Germany; www.kuraray.eu) has begun commercial production of its expanded capacity for "Mowital” PVB resin in the Höchst chemical park near Frankfurt. With the expansion by 10,000 t/y, at a cost of EUR 26m, Kuraray now has capacity for 39,000 t/y of the resins used to manufacture its "Trosifol” PVB film used in architectural glazing and laminated automobile safety.

The Japanese group acquired the resins facility from the German arm of Swiss speciality chemical producer Clariant (Muttenz; www.clariant.com) in 2002. In 2004 it acquired the "Trosifol” films business of HT Troplast.
