INDONESIA: Six tire makers allegedly involved in cartel
KPPU vice chairman Saidah Sakwan explained that the KPPU had observed the six companies' practices for the past three years.
The case has already been taken to court and the charges read.
"Preliminary investigations have begun. If the companies do not admit to the illicit practices, then the case will be examined further, Saidah said as quoted by tribunnews.com. Saidah refused to disclose the names of the companies in question.
The tire companies are facing fines as high as Rp 25 billion (USD 2.1 million) for violating the 1999 Monopoly and Unfair Competition Law.
