It is official: The last part of automotive supplier Stankiewicz GmbH (Adelheidsdorf / Germany; www.stankiewicz.de) has been sold. On 9 February, insolvency administrator Christopher Seagon announced that the negotiations for International Automotive Components (IAC, North America Dearborn, Michigan / USA; www.iacna.com) to acquire Stankiewicz International (Spartanburg, South Carolina / USA) have been wrapped up. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
About 150 people will continue to work at the Spartanburg site. A second US plant in Vance (Alabama), built in 2008, was sold when the German company filed for insolvency, after both Daimler and GM withdrew their orders in quick succession.
