Hytrel for award-winning prosthetic foot

The flexibility and durability of the polyester elastomer is essential to the prosthetic's functionality as the artificial limb anatomically mimics biological foot action and movements. Above all it is affordable which means that it is potentially accessible to many people. The inventor, Rob Gabourie, a Canadian board certified prosthetist and owner of Niagara Prosthetics and Orthotics International Ltd. (NPOI), based in Ontario, Canada, estimates that there are more than 20 million people without lower limbs who could benefit from this type of foot. The MDEA award ceremony was held in May 2012 in conjunction with MD&M East in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
