Hosokawa Alpine Blown Film Technology offering users maximum flexibility

Hosokawa Alpine started building a new manufacturing hall
Hosokawa Alpine is one of the world's leading suppliers of film blowing and film orientation lines. The company delivers mono- and co-extrusion lines in cutting edge technology for films of up to 9 layers. Especially Alpine's patented X-die head is known as the best there is on the market at the moment. The outstanding quality of the die head is also reflected in the high quality of the produced film – no port lines, no gels.

New developments
Two technological firsts that have never been shown at a trade fair anywhere in the world before will be exhibited by the company at the K 2013 in Düsseldorf on Stand D06 in Hall 16. These innovations constitute yet another milestone in the efforts to support system users in developing new markets. The innovations are aimed at providing maximum flexibility and high output rates combined with the guarantee of consistent quality. This means that once produced, film structures can be reproduced at any time without having to sacrifice quality.

With multi-layer film, it is above all the down-gauging effect that allows costs for quality raw materials to be saved. The film blowing lines from Hosokawa Alpine are optimised in a targeted manner such that the end product can be produced using as few resources as possible. Although they are complex systems, their operation is intuitive and simple, and the monitoring options offer the user comprehensive information at a glance at any time.

System demonstrations at the trade fair
Traditionally, Hosokawa Alpine produces several complex film recipes with different raw materials in alternation every day at the trade fair. And just as at the K 2010, Hosokawa Alpine will be demonstrating applications at this year's show which call for highly transparent film. The trade fair visitors will thus be able to convince themselves of the high quality, performance potential and flexibility of the exhibited line.

Hosokawa Alpine will reveal exactly which film structures will be produced on what days along with a detailed description of the respective system shortly before the trade fair starts.

Investments in Augsburg as a business location

The worldwide success of Alpine machines and systems and the excellent order situation have endorsed Hosokawa Alpine's decision to continue investing in Augsburg as a business location. Two new halls for production and assembly were erected between 2007 and 2008 in order to meet the increased demands of a modern system engineering company. A total of 20 million euros was invested.

In March 2013, Hosokawa Alpine started building a new manufacturing hall measuring 3,600m² in area. One wing of the building is earmarked for offices and for the requisite HVAC services. At the same time, one of the existing halls is being altered to create room for offices as well as a new testing centre for the recycling and granulators division. Completion of this conversion is scheduled for December 2013 and the investment volume is a further 11 million euros.
