Glass rovings optimized for acrylic composites


A new glass roving specifically designed and formulated for acrylic resins allows for the manufacture and production of glass reinforced PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) thermoplastic composites.

From 3B-the fibreglass company (Battice, Belgium), the roving employs E-CR glass, which is an alumino-lime silicate with less than one weight-percent of alkali oxides that exhibits high acid resistance.

The resulting SE4740 roving provides excellent processability in both weaving and knitting procedures and outstanding compatibility with Arkema's Altuglas acrylic resin system leading to excellent mechanical properties making it the recognized PMMA compatible roving available globally."
