Glass fibre-reinforced PLA compounds

Fully colourable and available globally, the new compounds have glass fibre loadings from 10?-?40 %. The 30 % glass fibre-reinforced PLA grade has a tensile strength of 114 MPa, flexural modulus of 11,239 MPa, and heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 160 °C at 455 kPa. In comparison to unmodified PLA, the compound has nearly twice the tensile strength and its HDT has increased by almost 93 °C. According to RTP, the material surpasses the tensile strength, flexural modulus, and HDT of 30 % glass fibre-reinforced PP.
