German supplier of plastic and glass products to the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors, Gerresheimer AG (Düsseldorf) has announced that it will expand production capacity for medical plastic systems at its plant in Peachtree City, GA. The multimillion-dollar investment will add 60,000 sq ft to current capacity, almost doubling its footprint, and ultimately create 120 new jobs. The additional space will be dedicated to medical device manufacturing and will include an ISO Class 8 cleanroom.
"We're experiencing worldwide growth in demand for user friendly . . . medical devices, such as inhalers and insulin pens," commented Andreas Schütte, a member of the company's management board and in charge of the Plastics and Devices Division. "As a result of this growth, and new customer projects, our excellent plant in Peachtree City will be significantly increasing its production capacity," said Schütte in a prepared statement.
