The plastics economy in the German-speaking countries is looking up again. Of the 280 companies responding to the latest reader survey of Kunststoff-Information (KI, Bad Homburg / Germany; www.kiweb.de), 60% said business improved in the second half of 2009 against the first half. This is in sharp contrast to the mood last January, when 70% said the second half of 2008 was worse than the first half.
The outlook for the industry in the first half of 2010 is equally positive. Some 46% of the readers said the upswing would continue, although there was some disagreement about the rate of progress.
