Freedonia: US protective packaging demand to reach USD 5.2 bn in 2014

After growing by a mere 2.4% from 2004-2009, US demand for protective packaging is expected to climb 6.2% until 2014, reaching USD 5.2 bn, a new study by US market research group Freedonia (Cleveland, Ohio; www.freedoniagroup.com) has found. “Protective Packaging” predicts that the main driver will be improvements in the overall US economy.

The most significant growth rates, Freedonia forecasts, will be enjoyed by molded foam, whose market share dropped by 1.9% in the five years leading up to 2009, and which is expected to grow at 7.7% until 2014.
