Free webinar: Finding solutions for marine litter


n August 2013, the NRDC estimated that local California communities spend more than $428 million each year to keep marine debris from polluting our waters, which is an average of $10.71 per resident. It's also estimated that up to 90 percent of floating debris is plastic.

As such, solutions must be found for this issue. A webinar scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Feb. 26 will discuss that very topic.

Marine litter is human created waste that has been discharged into the coastal or marine environment. Marine litter is ugly and can harm ocean ecosystems, wildlife, and humans. It's effects have prompted governments, private enterprise, environmental groups and citizens to take action.
