Faurecia takes over Ford/ACH automotive interiors business

The Saline business generates USD 1.1 billion (~?EUR 835 million) annual sales, supplying cockpit modules, instrument panels, door panels, and centre consoles for 12 vehicle programmes assembled at eight Ford Motor Company plants throughout North America. With this acquisition, Ford will become Faurecia's third largest customer. Financial details were not disclosed.In conjunction with the Saline acquisition, Faurecia has entered into a new joint venture with Rush Group Ltd. The JV, called Detroit Manufacturing Systems (DMS), will do injection moulding, assembly, and sequencing of interior trim components from a new facility in Detroit. As a result, the Saline plant will focus in the future on core technologies such as injection moulding, skin manufacturing, and foaming operations with annual revenues of nearly USD 400 million (~?EUR 300 million). Operations transitioning to the DMS facility will begin transferring this summer.
