Concept
Wickert shows a modular press system for the pressing of functional elements on metal supports. The individual press modules consist of two presses each with individual hydraulics and fully automatic loading and unloading automation.

Dual modules are suitable for development departments and small series production. By using add-on technology 4 and 6 module rows can be formed that have a common supply logistics and are designed for the production of medium and large series.

A general production standard can be formed by the modularity.
From development to fully automatic production.
This results in equal quality and equal productivity beyond individual departments and on all sites.


Technology
There are photo-optical load monitoring devices to ensure the correct position of loading of support parts, in order to support the targeted 0-error production. A press height monitoring system monitors the dimensional stability of the parts. Pressure and temperature tolerance ranges ensure the pressing quality and the chemical reaction of the functional elements.

Grippers with gripping path monitoring combined with sensitive mould security prevent moulds from being damaged by falling parts.

The productivity of the modules is generated by servo-hydraulic clamping units and rapid servo-axes.

Rapid change devices are available for rapid mould changing: hot moulds can be transferred into the press via roller conveyors, which are then mounted rapidly in the press with temperature compensating quick clamping devices that ensure that the mould is positioned in the centre.

The modules are space-saving in assembly, the hydraulics and control cabinet are placed over press and automation, so that the footprint requirement is reduced by half in comparison with conventional assembly.


Flexibility
The switch-over of modules from fully automatic operation to semi-automatic is done by pressing a button. Loading drawers enable the operator to load the presses with blanks without interrupting the safety area, so that alternatively one or two modules can be supplied by hand while the others continue fully automatically. This is a great advantage in the case of running in new moulds or by changing over to new articles.

The flexibility of the use of the new press modules can be seen in the fact that these are designed as a so-called hook-in-solution, so that the modules can be moved easily inside the factory or to different sites, without causing great costs and down-times.
