Expertise worldwide – Specialist trade shows “made in Düsseldorf” provides the highly innovative and fast-growing plastics and rubber segment with access to global markets

At this year’s K trade show, the plastics and rubber industry are demonstrating a dynamic, innovative and confident stance. Machinery manufacturers, raw material producers and processors all over the world have gone to great lengths to prepare for this flagship trade show. They want to impress visitors with their innovative products. At K 2013, which takes place from 16 until 23 October in Düsseldorf, more than 3,200 exhibitors from all over the world will present the most comprehensive range of trend-setting manufacturing, processing and machining technologies in the world. The live presentations of complex production systems in the exhibition halls of Düsseldorf are unique.

In addition to the flagship fair which takes place at triennial intervals and is considered the most important innovation platform for the entire industry, the global players from the plastics and rubber industry require other suitable platforms that facilitate an active dialogue with customers. As an organizer of top events all over the world, Messe Düsseldorf is their ideal partner. In the wake of his company’s internationalization strategy, Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, CEO and president of Messe Düsseldorf, sees major benefits for the export-oriented plastics and rubber industry: “Specialist trade shows are still the ideal medium for moving into markets. The interplastica is Russia’s leading specialist trade show for plastics and rubber technology. Following the weak years of the international financial and economic crisis, this market is currently undergoing a significant revival. The exhibitors at interplastica 2013 have reported very promising business negotiations and contracts. A total of 20,000 experts attended interplastica 2013 and the UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA, the Italian specialist fair for packaging technology, which takes place at the same time. Some visitors came from far afield to see the new technologies presented by international and local companies.

The interplastica 2014, this 17th international trade fair of the plastics and rubber industry, will be hosted from 28 until 31 January on Moscow’s exhibition grounds Zao Expocentr in Krasnaja Presnja, and will again be hosted at the same time as the UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA. Already, there is a clear increase of exhibitor registrations. More than 1,000 exhibitors will attend both trade shows for a comprehensive overview of the plastics and packaging industry. The highest number of exhibitors is expected to hail from Russia, Germany and Italy, but China, France, Austria, Portugal, Taiwan and Turkey will also be represented in force. A special show on raw materials will also inform visitors on the latest developments and products of Russian and international exhibitors – a perfect enhancement of the interplastica.

Messe Düsseldorf is also active in the growing Vietnamese market: together with Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd., Messe Düsseldorf ASIA will host the Plastics & Rubber Vietnam, which will take place from 4 until 6 March, 2014 in Ho-Chi-Minh City. In 2012, this event at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), which took place at the same time as the leading packaging trade show Propak Vietnam, was attended by 145 exhibitors and visited by about 7,500 experts.

Vietnam is considered a market with major potential. In the wake of the country’s booming consumer industries such as electronic and automotive engineering, the local plastics and rubber segment is predicted to experience steady growth over the next years – with the corresponding need for investment.

China remains one of the most interesting markets for the plastics and rubber industry. The country’s vitality can be experienced at CHINAPLAS 2014, which will take place from 23 until 26 April at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

Messe Düsseldorf has been cooperating with Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the organizer of CHINAPLAS, for many years. In 2014, Messe Düsseldorf will again organize the official German participation in CHINAPLAS. In addition to this, the Chinese subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf will be partner of this event. The host expects a total of 3,000 exhibiting companies and 115,000 visitors to attend CHINAPLAS 2014.

In Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, the triple trade show INDOPACK-INDOPLAS-INDOPRINT was established in Jakarta. Since 2012, the event has been advanced and internationalised by Messe Düsseldorf and its Indonesian partner PT Wahana Kemalaniaga. In 2012 the three finely-tuned trade shows attracted 253 exhibitors, 60% of which came from abroad. A total of about 21,000 visitors from 19 countries delivered an impressive demonstration of the importance of this business platform, which will take place again from 3 until 6 September, 2014 on the Jakarta International Expo exhibition grounds.

The only specialized trade show for the plastics and rubber industry in the Czech Republic, PLASTEX, is hosted by Veletrhy Brno a.s., the Czech subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf. The next show will take place from 8 until 12 September, 2014 at the exhibition grounds “Brünner Messegelände” at the same time as the International Machine Engineering show MSV, together with several other technology shows. A total of 258 exhibitors from 19 countries took part in PLASTEX 2012. This trade show and all related shows were attended by about 76,000 people.

In the Near and Middle East, the ArabPlast trade show has become established as the leading platform for the growing plastics and rubber industry. In 2004 Messe Düsseldorf became the exclusive partner of the organizer of the ArabPlast, Al Fajer Information & Services, who will host this trade show for the eleventh time in 2013. From 7 until 10 January, the event attracted 800 exhibiting companies and about 18,500 visitors. The next ArabPlast will take place from 10 until 13 January, 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

In Thailand, where the plastics processing industry is considered an important engine of the country’s economic growth, investments are subsidised. Exhibitors attending the TIPREX, Thai International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition, which will take place from 26 until 29 August, 2015 will also benefit from the country’s economic success. The trade show will take place for the fifth time at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). A total of 250 exhibiting companies and more than 6,000 visitors are expected. The TIPREX 2015 will take place at the same time as the PackPrint International, which will generate profitable synergies for visitors and exhibitors. Both trade shows are organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, a 100% subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH.

In 2012, about 125,000 specialists visited the PLASTINDIA, the most important plastics and rubber trade show in India, and attended the presentations of 1,600 exhibitors. The Plastindia Foundation and Messe Düsseldorf have been working together for a long time. In 2015, Messe Düsseldorf will again act as Overseas Associate and look after the European and US exhibitors. Taking place from 5 until 10 February, 2015, the trade show will be hosted for the first time at the Helipad Grounds, Nr. Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, in Ahmedabad in the Gujarat province for the first time. The Indian market is considered to provide excellent opportunities: the fast growing, consumption-friendly middle classes, infrastructural expansion, investment in medical and health services and an expanding leisure industry generate a significant demand for plastic parts and packaging as well as for production machinery and raw materials.
